Plug-in cannot be opened on macOS

If you get the error message “[PLUGIN NAME].vst3 cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.” on macOS, follow the steps below:

1. Go to VST folder and try to “Open with” any program (which probably won’t work).
2. Open DAW and try to open the VST. The error still comes up, but you now have the option to “Open” your VST from the error screen.
3. Click “Open”.

Alternatively, you can enter these commands in the Terminal:

– sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/[PLUGIN NAME].vst3
– sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/[PLUGIN NAME].component
